Our Story

Creations By Brian, LLC didn’t happen by accident. It all began in 1991 as Nuance Painting, Inc., a family business I started with my father, Mack, and older brother, Kevin. We began pressure washing and staining homes and decks in Northern Virginia, later expanding into trim installation, drywall repair, and custom painting. Over time, we built a strong reputation as a premier painting company in the area.

After marrying Amber in 1995, we started our family and, in 2002, decided to leave the D.C. area for Muskegon, MI. With over a decade of experience, I knew I couldn’t leave the trades, so with my father’s blessing, Creations By Brian, LLC was born. The business quickly grew, thanks to support from the local community. Over the years, we’ve expanded our team, service area, and expertise, bringing quality craftsmanship and passion to every project.

Our Family & Community

Amber and I have built not just a business, but a life centered around family and service. We are active members of Life Change Church in Muskegon and deeply involved in fostering and supporting children through Kids Belong, where Amber serves on the board. She has also mentored teens at The Hope Project and is a longtime member of the Women’s Division Chamber of Commerce, helping fundraise for local charities.

I’ve spent years volunteering as a soccer coach and serving on the CTC Construction Trades Advisory Board, mentoring students and even hiring interns to launch their careers in the trades. Thanks to the growth of Creations By Brian, LLC, Amber now works full-time as my Office Manager, helping us continue to serve our customers with excellence. In May 2025, we’ll celebrate 30 years of marriage, grateful for the journey we’ve had and excited for what’s ahead.

Brian

Owner/Operator & Visionary

Brian has over 30 years of experience combined from his family business in Virginia to Michigan. He started working with decks and grew the business to what we have now. His love for the trades shows in how excited he is to share knowledge with our team and our clients.

Amber

Wife, Office Manager

Amber has been the office manager since 2012. She is the master implementer of all the things Brian has a vision for, and he definitely keeps her on her toes. She is beyond thrilled to enjoy every moment of being a Gigi.

Mackenzie

Daughter, Office Assistant

Mackenzie joined us in spring of 2026 and has 8+ years in the trades and admin experience. She and her husband Matt are having their first child this fall.

Shannon

Lead Painter

Shannon started with us in 2017 and has 25+ years of trade experience. He mentors our crew and, along with his wife Gina, serves at Rothbury Community Church through the AWANA program.

Keith

Lead Painter

Keith joined us in 2025 and has 20+ years experience in construction and even built his own home. He’s married to Angela and they have 4 kids and 3 beautiful grandchildren that he enjoys spending time with.

Bobby

Lead Painter

Bobby joined us in 2022 and has 20 years experience in the trades. He started out in flooring and had an easy transition to our team with his attention to detail. His love for structure makes him great at cabinet painting. He’s married to Shawna and has 3 daughters.

Derek

Painter

Derek joined our team in fall of 2025 and is new to the trades. He is loving what he is learning and brings discipline, joy, and a strong faith to work every day.

Nolan

Painter

Nolan joined us in the summer of 2024 and was new to the industry. Since then, he has become a valuable asset to the team and is not afraid of heights and always has a smile.

Layn

Painter

Layn joined us in the summer of 2026. He came to us with an excitement to work with his hands and learn the trades. He is a quick learner with a great attitude and has dove into all the new experiences he is having.
